In the spring of 2024, in Beijing, alongside the grand opening of the 5th China Structural Heart Disease Conference, a spotlight shone on an innovative scientific achievement—the launch ceremony of the "Percutaneous and Non-Fluoroscopic Procedure Healthcare Promotion Project" This marked the official commencement of the global promotion journey for this breakthrough technology. Innovated by the team at the National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases and the Fuwai Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and with the visionary support from Academician Hu Shengshou, this technology represents a significant leap in the field of cardiac treatment. It offers patients a safer and more economical treatment option, eliminating the need for surgery, radiation, or general anesthesia.
This launch ceremony not only captured the attention of numerous medical experts and leaders from around the world but also received support and recognition from the United Nations, becoming part of the UN's Global Sustainable Development Goals Promotion Project. Many dignitaries at the event jointly pressed the launch button, symbolizing the official start of the standardized training and promotion activities for the non-radiation transcatheter intervention technique. This moment will undoubtedly be remembered in the annals of cardiovascular disease treatment history.
Since its innovation, this technology has shown tremendous global impact. In 2023, it was selected for the UN Global Sustainable Development Goals Promotion Project and invited to demonstrate live surgeries in 25 countries. Its achievements have been extended to 68 countries and 1,042 medical institutions, effectively serving medical diplomacy and the "Belt and Road" initiative, showcasing the strength and elegance of Chinese original technology.
At the launch ceremony, numerous guests including Director Lu Haitian, Vice Minister Wang Gang, and Director Gao Weizhong, delivered speeches. They unanimously agreed that the advent of non-radiation transcatheter intervention technology could significantly reduce medical costs and offer a new treatment option for patients who were previously unable to undergo traditional interventional surgeries. The promotion of this technology is expected to improve the medical needs of many regions around the world, positively contributing to the achievement of the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and building a global community of health for all.
